Help Ashley and her partner relocate after death threats
United States
Hi, my name is Caitlin, and I’m from the United States. I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Ashley a brave transgender human rights defender and her partner, both of whom are in urgent need of relocation to safety. Ashley leads a community of over 400 LGBTQ+ refugees who are facing unimaginable risks. In South Sudan, being queer is illegal and punishable by violence, imprisonment, and constant harassment. Ashley recently gave a powerful interview with the BBC, shedding light on the persecution her community faces every day. While the interview raised global awareness, it also put Ashley and her partner in immediate danger. They are now being targeted by a homophobic government simply for speaking out. This campaign aims to raise $5,000 to help Ashley and her partner escape and rebuild their lives in a safer location. The funds will go toward: • Emergency transportation out of the danger zone • Temporary housing and food in a secure location • Basic necessities and medical care • Legal assistance for seeking protection and long-term safety Your support will not only help save two lives but will also protect the voice of a movement fighting for justice, equality, and dignity for LGBTQ+ refugees in East Africa. Please donate what you can, and share this campaign widely. Every dollar brings Ashley and her partner closer to safety and freedom. Thank you so much,
Caitlin
Hi, thank you so much to everyone who donated to help Ashley and her partner to find a safe place, you’re awesome! Ashley is now taking two additional people with her who are also leaders of the LGBTQ+ refugees community and may need extra funds to get them to safety, as well. The campaign has been edited to accept $8000, so if you are able, please donate to help these two extra people escape with Ashley.
Many thanks,
Caitlin
